Tawang is world renowned for its 400 year old Buddhist Monastery, sits at a height of over 10000 feet, is one of the biggest in India also known as Galden Namgyal Lhatse. The Monastery was founded by the monk Mera Lama, a contemporary of the fifth Dalai Lama and a birth place of the sixth Dalai Lama. Tawang is endowed historically and naturally both.

Gorichen Peak and Ghesila range are the important peak of Tawang district attracts tourists and mountaineers.
